In the past 12 years, JibJab’s talented team has built products that have served laughs to over 100 million people around the world. Our ‘Starring You’ product is the biggest personalized media product on the web. Since we launched it, people have created over 100 million pieces of content that have been viewed over 750 million times.
Now, we’re bringing that delight to the next generation through our new StoryBots brand. Our mission is to make learning fun for kids and keep parenting fun. We’ve got a lot done already, but we’re just getting started, and we have a lot of big plans still in store. We’re going to need help, and this where you come in.
The Communications Coordinator position is a cross-functional support role designed to execute tactical elements of corporate communications, brand marketing, customer acquisition and strategic partnership projects. The role requires:
- Proactive thinker who can function autonomously to lead tactical execution, while still thinking strategically to meet big picture objectives.
- Strong ability to consistently identify and take advantage of untapped opportunities for program expansion and optimization. Adept at developing original ideas and innovating beyond status quo.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively articulate the brand positioning both internally and externally, in a highly compelling and creative manner.
- Flexible and easily adapts to unexpected change, with ability to stay nimble and positive as goals and resources shift. Also able to contribute effectively outside of core specialty, as well as comfortable and willing to perform both above and below position level.
- Accountable and high impact performer, able to accomplish a high volume of work with grace and efficiency.

Responsibilities include, but not are not limited to:
- Execution of successful, targeted marketing campaigns, using established and new customer acquisition channels.
- Drafting key communications and messaging, including marketing collateral, grass roots outreach, PR materials and pitches, blog posts – with high proficiency and minimal edits needed.
- Tracking and documenting campaign performance, monitoring for efficiency and opportunities for optimization.
- Comprehensive, and effective partner relationship management, including vendors and strategic partners.
- Research, including industry trends, related comps, competitive analysis, and more.
- Pitching, including PR, industry awards and speaking opportunities, business development opportunities, to secure media coverage, awards and effective partnerships.
- Event management, as needed.
Qualified candidates will have:
- 3-5 years of comparable experience in marketing communications for consumer facing tech / entertainment brands
- BA/BS required
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Keynote, WordPress, Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest; Salesforce and/or database management experience a plus
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS and Photoshop a plus

MOBILE APPLICATION DEVELOPER

Now, we’re trying to bring that delight to the next generation through our new StoryBots initiative. Our mission is to make learning fun for kids and easy for parents. The way we see it, the promise of the iPhone and the iPad is in their ability to deliver beautiful, engaging, and interactive experiences that spark a sense of wonder in children everywhere.

What you’ll be doing:
• Collaborate with the product and development teams to design, implement, and continually improve apps for the iPhone and iPad.
• Evaluate new technologies and device platforms.
• Provide assessments and accurate estimates for project implementation.
• Optimize UI responsiveness, efficiency of network calls, and smoothness of audio/video playback.
• Integrate visual designs and animations into different apps.
• Implement, debug, and extend purchase and restore funnels with In-App Purchase.

What you’ll need:
- 3+ years of development experience in mobile application architecture, frameworks and development methodologies.
- Proficient programming abilities in Objective-C/Cocoa framework and iPhone/iPad SDK.
- Thorough knowledge of Objective-C language features such as protocols and categories. The richer your toolbox for architectural decisions, the better.
- Experience in writing rich GUI’s for the iPhone and iPad.
- Lots of experience with consuming web service API’s and technologies (RESTful or otherwise).
- A firm grasp of web application basics: HTTP, SSL, cookies, database access, and so on.
- A positive attitude is an absolute must, along with strong verbal and written communication skills. We work in small teams, which makes working well together that much more important. We’re not a huge company: cross-department communication is a fact of life.
Nice to haves:
- Experience with Core Data schema design and using Core Data contexts in multiple threads.
- Experience with In-App Purchases, particularly auto-renewable subscriptions.
- Previous experience with developing applications that are already in the App Store.
- Total comfort on the Unix command line.

• Write Ruby and Rails software for the JibJab and StoryBots websites.
• Write in Ruby or any other another language of your choice for any number of tasks requiring analysis or automation.

-At least 3 years of experience building dynamic websites using web application frameworks using Ruby, Python, Perl, or another dynamic programming language.

-Experience using standard web technologies: HTML, CSS, JSON, AJAX, JavaScript, and JavaScript libraries.
-The ability to look at C and syntactically similar languages (C++, Java, and Objective-C) and still have some sense of what’s going on in the code.
