Originally we were gonna go with guys in Hazmat suits scooping up a Listeria infected cantaloupe.

Next we thought, “Wouldn’t it be funny if one of the guys in the background was eating one of the cantaloupes?”

Then we thought, “This scene is a half a second long. Let’s just show a guy eating cantaloupe!”

The lesson we learned – Sometimes trying so hard for a gag makes an idea less readable.
