Jeff had originally come up with a sweet gag here that we ultimately decided to veer away from.  The idea was to have Bert pop up with female pigeons and Ernie pop up with a female Rubbery Ducky.  We’d never thought about it before but both of these guys had a thing for birds.

After we built the puppets we felt that there was a chance the birds might confuse people that didn’t have an intimate knowledge of the characters.  Instead of laughing and saying, “Yeah, why did Sesame Street hold a press release stating that Bert and Ernie are just friends?” they might stop laughing and say, “What the heck are those birds doing in there?”  So… for all of you TRUE Sesame Street lovers, we present you Pigeons and Duckies…
